Swap properties? Is that still done? Yes, it is legal and not complicated to trade one home for another. This can be a 2 party trade or it can involve a multi-party trade. The key to a successful trade is balancing equities. This may require adding cash or taking out new financing or carrying paper. There are literally numerous ways and means to balancing equities between properties. In the real world, it is not easy to find 2 owners that would want to trade properties. But, that doesn't mean that person isn't out there - it just takes clever marketing to find them.
